Why I Built Wanminit with Fr. Elric Web

Story time! Fr. Elric is currently the parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Lantapan, Bukidnon. My first interaction with Padre was at a Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meeting, where we talked about his passion project: his daily reflection vlogs called “Wanminit with Fr. Elric.”

What amazed me

I was amazed by Padre’s passion, his commitment to post daily, and that he doesn’t post just any video. These are reflections made with intention. They aren’t random videos; they are carefully prepared. I was amazed because I once posted daily short reflections myself, and I know how hard it is to stay consistent.

A challenge from a saint

Then the late Pope Francis canonized Blessed Carlo Acutis. And I discovered that St. Carlo built a digital catalog of Eucharistic Miracles (miracolieucaristici.org). How great is that! The idea is so simple, but so impactful.

So I challenged myself. Not to become a saint (hopefully, though), but to build something with impact. (Well, not the same impact as St. Carlo 🤣.)

The homilies that stayed with me

Then I remembered visiting the shrine of Venerable Teofilo Camomot (a Servant of God at the time) in Carcar, Cebu. The compilation of his homilies stuck with me.

“Wow, someone actually collected and kept his homilies.”

So I decided to build a compilation of homilies. But the question was: whose homilies? 🤣 Then I remembered Fr. Elric and his daily one-minute reflection vlogs.

“Why don’t I build a repository of his vlogs, so that when Padre becomes a saint, anyone can access his daily reflections?”

So I built it, approached Padre, and offered it to him as a gift for his passion.

That’s it

The very reason I built Wanminit with Fr. Elric Web is that I want the faithful to easily access his inspiring reflection videos. That way, when the time comes, a repository of his good works through social media will stay forever.
