Why I Built RunnersPod
"Connecting every runner, every race."
Story time! In the last week of December 2025, a workmate asked if I could build a registration platform for an upcoming running event managed by the LGU. The event was scheduled for February, and they would start posting promotions on social media within a week of her reaching out. I told her, “I can do it, ma’am, but it needs time. I can’t beat your timeline.”
“Why not?”
After that conversation, my mind kept running: “Why not, actually? What if I build a platform for running events?” So I explored whether platforms like that already existed, and there were already so many.
“So why build another one?” My answer: “Why not?” 🤣
Building it
So I built it, coding every day and night. Code here, code there. Laptop here, laptop there. And then came the last part: launching.
The doubts
“I’ll just not pursue this anymore. Maybe it won’t last. Maybe it’ll flop. How would I even market this to organizers? Would anyone even notice it?”
Here came the doubts 🤔. Then I stopped. “This probably isn’t for me.”
Then the event came
Then came the event my workmate was organizing. I learned that the organizer they hired was the same one I had worked with at the Lantapan Run 2025. So we had become somewhat friends 🤣.
I asked my friend to vouch for me so I could be introduced to them, and… they still remembered me, slightly. So with my laptop, while they were busy setting up the arch and everything else, I presented RunnersPod to them. And lo and behold, they were interested. We exchanged conversations and plans, and the rest is history.
They have been using RunnersPod for their past 7 events, and they currently have 6 events with registration open on the platform.
Why they stayed
Their reason for staying is the same reason I built RunnersPod:
- For organizers: manage registration hassle-free. No more manual checking, and no more following up with registrants about whether they’ve sent their payment screenshot.
- For runners: registering is quick. Once payment is confirmed, the slot is secured right away. No more taking a screenshot and sending it to the organizer.
That’s it
That’s the very reason I built RunnersPod.
And maybe you’re wondering, “Why did you still launch it?” Well, I hate regrets.
“I don’t want to one day be kicking myself, wondering why I didn’t push through.”
